Case Study

The Potomac School

BCC was retained to provide communications and fundraising support and services for The Potomac School's $50 million capital campaign. As part of the campaign, the school built new facilities and expanded its endowment. We produced a comprehensive fundraising strategy that guided the school's board and campaign volunteers in soliciting key donors. We worked with the board, campaign committee, and development staff to position the campaign and develop messages that resonated with key audiences, and, in fact, advised school leaders on the strategy that resulted in the largest single gift in the school’s history. We also produced a communications plan that provided a 2-year blueprint for action and supported all fundraising activities. The communications tactics included community outreach through a newsletter, campaign website, media relations, and electronic messages to targeted audiences. We worked with campaign leadership to organize meetings with donors and volunteers, parents, alumni and teachers to energize the entire Potomac community behind the campaign. In addition, we supported the school’s media outreach for the groundbreaking for the new Upper School during which former President Bill Clinton was the keynote speaker.
