Carol Cassidy Walker

Senior Associate

A native Washingtonian, Carol’s career spans over 37 years, beginning in political fundraising and following the pathway into the non-profit fundraising arena across local, national, and international levels, business development in the for-profit sector, and consulting in both.

She brings expertise in strategic planning, operations, fundraising, marketing/public relations /communications, business development, and financial reporting.

Passionate about donor-centered fundraising, she believes in a comprehensive approach; her work initiates a positive donor experience, creating strong relationships with sound stewardship. Building on strategic planning, Carol is skilled in strengthening philanthropic support through successful identification, engagement, cultivation, and solicitation of prospects and donors. Her work encompasses all channels from direct response to major/principal gifts and planned gifts, leveraging marketing assets.

She has been privileged to work in leadership positions managing programs for the American Red Cross NHQ, Children’s National Medical Center, Global Fund for Children/Global Fund for Children UK Trust, Capital Caring Health, and a leading autism organization. She worked for a top ten ad agency managing the National Cancer Institute account focused on raising local funds for comprehensive cancer centers across the country. Also, she secured venture funding for an internet start-up in e-commerce.

Within the non-profit sector, she recently returned to her former employer to conduct a comprehensive fundraising assessment, including systems and processes, resulting in a fundraising and marketing plan modeled to increase revenue and capacity.

Long ago, her consulting services also included work for the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Fund. This work led to her serving as a founding board member to create the non-profit, Vietnam Dream for Success, which began in 2007 as a school for orphaned girls in Lavang, Quảng Trị Province, Vietnam.

After serving on the Direct Marketing Association’s (DMA) Non-Profit Council Federation Board for nearly a decade, she was honored to receive Distinguished Member, Advisory Council Emeritus from the DMA. She received the American Red Cross Award for Excellence as a member of the Board of Governors’ multi-disciplinary team charged with creating and embedding a new framework for fundraising across the organization in 2007. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals nationwide and the Tampa Bay Chapter.

Carol serves as a volunteer for American Red Cross Disaster Relief and a pro-bono consultant to the Association for Recovery of Children.

Carol received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Bob Jones University and the Distinguished Chancellor’s Award for Leadership.
